Project Planning, Execution & Control is the second of three Short Courses that comprise SOD’s Project Management Vocational Program. It represents the Processes component of SOD’s signature People, Processes and Technology pedagogical framework, the educational model underpinning the design and development of all SOD learning programs. This progressive approach recognises that successful organisational transformation begins with people, advances through effective processes and is enabled by technology. Building upon the organisational support, stakeholder commitment and human resources established in Level 1, this second level focuses on developing the structured management processes required to plan, execute, monitor and control projects effectively. Grounded in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and incorporating Agile project management methodologies where appropriate, students will develop practical capabilities across four essential project management knowledge areas. They will learn to define project objectives, establish scope boundaries, identify deliverables and develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to organise project activities and manage scope changes. Students will also explore project cost management, including estimating expenses, developing budgets, establishing cost baselines and monitoring financial performance. Particular attention will be given to identifying, analysing and responding to project risks, developing risk registers, assessing probability and impact, and implementing appropriate risk response strategies. Additionally, students will learn to manage project integration by coordinating project management processes, aligning project activities with organisational objectives, managing change requests and maintaining consistency across project deliverables. Each one of the four microcredentials in the curriculum, comprises 24 hours of learning, providing a total of 96 hours for this Short Course. Successful completion of all three Short Courses, representing 12 micro-credentials and 288 hours of learning, contributes towards completion of SOD’s Project Management Vocational Program.
